Seeking to make a good Summoner

Recently just picked this game up and looking to make a solid hero.

Alright, so my favorite race to play are the daemons.

Should I make a daemon hero summoner?

I don't think as a summoner I would be using morale all that much so should I be choosing the demon as a hero?

Or go with a Dark Elf summoner, which would give me some bonus to the summoner class, atleast in the beginning.

How about a Plague Lord Summoner?

I guess what I am asking is, whats the point in using a hero of the same race you like to play if your hero is a stay at base kind of hero?

Also, as a summoner I have been keeping my intelligence two points higher than my charisma to help lower cost. Or is that something I should steer clear from?
